Question: I want a header on my blog that’s like yours – multiple pictures across the screen – but Blogger only allows me to put in one photo. How do you make a photo that combines several photos into a banner like that?
Answer: Until recently you had to have special photo editing software like Photoshop, or Fireworks. But, now, you can do it quite easily with Picasa 3.
First step is to select the photos you want on your banner. When they are all collected in the selection tray, click the collage button. Make sure to select the ‘Picture Pile’ type of collage so you can drag the photos into just the right order. A collage is normally a standard print or paper size, but in this case we want it to be a banner, so line up your photos anywhere on the page.
Our Geeks On Tour Classroom has a free video on how to make collages.
When you finish and close your collage, you have a new picture. Next is to crop it, using the ‘manual’ size setting, into a banner, short and wide. And last is to Export it to the width required by Blogger, I believe that was 750. GOT Class Members can view a video on how to add a banner photo to blogger.
Here’s the final banner. It’s SOO easy!

Hi Geeks – I love your articles since I stumbled upon them – they are great, useful and happy reading.
Now I have great fears that one day Picasa Desktop AND Webalbums as we know it now will disappear. There are these telltale signals of no further updates, no real solution being prublished on the un-official forum, elusive replies on the Google Picasa Forum, Picasa not being in the Google Prodicts Listing among 100+ or so – . I maintain about 166.000 photo’s and videos on Picasa Desktop and would not know what to do without this suuperorgansiational tool. Also I have 1032 webalbums in operation and even manage to upload upto 3GB-size movies. So what is all this Google+stuff? Aside from its stupid name – everything today is PLUS – what does it do? Is it compatible? Or just another new label? Please could you dedicate an article about this subject? I am sure many other readres wil want to know! Regards keep up the good work Isaac from The Hague, The Netherlands
I hear your concern over the future of Picasa. I’m afraid I have no active contacts at Google anymore – so I don’t know any more than you do. Even if I did have contacts, they wouldn’t tell me about future plans. I do have some articles here about Google+. The link below will show you all the articles in the Google+ category. But realize that the desktop software is on your computer, they can’t take that away from you. All they can do is stop sending updates.
